Indian Phone Numbers
Vomyra is built for Indian businesses. This page covers the types of numbers available, TRAI regulations, DLT registration, KYC requirements, and why Truecaller matters for your outbound connect rate.
Which number should I use?
| Series | Use case | Notes |
|---|---|---|
10-digit (9x, 8x, 7x, 6x)Recommended | Regular mobile & VoIP | Standard business calling. Inbound and outbound. Must be registered on the carrier's DLT platform for promotional outbound. |
140-series | Transactional calls (OTPs, alerts) | For automated transactional messages. Lower spam risk. Not used for general conversation agents. |
160-series | Service / informational calls | Assigned to businesses for service-type calls. Requires registration with a licensed DLT platform. |
Recommended for most businesses
Use a standard 10-digit Indian number.
This is the best option for:
- Customer support
- Appointment booking
- Lead qualification
- Follow-up calls
- Sales conversations
Most Vomyra customers do not need 140-series or 160-series numbers.
Truecaller and connect rates
If you plan to run outbound campaigns, set up Truecaller for Business before scaling call volume.
Register with Truecaller for Business
Submit your business number at truecaller.com/solutions/business. Verified numbers show the business name and logo instead of an unknown number, and are marked as trusted.
Use a stable, consistent number
High-volume calling from a new or rotating number triggers spam detection faster. Use one number per campaign type and keep volumes reasonable.
Identify yourself in the first second
Your assistant's first message should include your business name immediately — callers may answer before Truecaller loads the caller ID.
Monitor your spam score
Check Truecaller's spam verification tool periodically. If flagged, submit a removal request and reduce call volume from that number temporarily.
DLT registration (TRAI)
If you're using Vomyra for customer support, appointment confirmations, or existing customer follow-ups, your compliance requirements may differ depending on your use case and carrier.
Consult your carrier or compliance team if you're unsure.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) requires businesses making commercial outbound calls to register on a distributed ledger platform (DLT). The requirements depend on your call type.
KYC for live phone calls
Vomyra requires KYC (Know Your Customer) verification before enabling live phone calls. This is both a Vomyra requirement and a regulatory one under Indian telecom rules.
While KYC is pending, you can:
- Create assistants
- Configure integrations
- Test using web calls
You cannot yet:
- Make live phone calls
- Receive calls on assigned numbers
Documents required
- Certificate of Incorporation (for companies)
- GST Registration Certificate
- PAN Card of the business
- Aadhaar or passport of the authorised signatory
- Proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, or lease agreement)
Submit documents via the dashboard banner that appears after login. Review takes 24–48 business hours.
Do Not Disturb (DND)
Before running any promotional campaign, scrub your contact list against the TRAI NDNC (National Do Not Call) registry using TRAI's customer preference portal or an authorised third-party DND scrubbing service. Calling DND numbers without consent can result in fines.
Before you launch an outbound campaign
Complete this checklist before going live. Skipping any step is a common source of low answer rates, compliance issues, or blocked numbers.
Outbound readiness checklist
- KYC approved
- Phone number active
- Truecaller profile configured
- DLT registration completed (if required)
- Contact list reviewed for DND compliance
- Assistant tested with real calls
